Our selection from the G William Jones Film Collection this month is a dastardly little wilderness thriller, a post-Memorial Day morsel about what the horrors of war can do to the minds of men. Directed by Burt Kennedy (Support Your Local Sheriff!, Dirty Dingus Magee) and starring Rod Steiger as “Charlie”, the film finds a group of war veterans headed for a weekend of boozing and shooting at a remote cabin in the woods. When they arrive, they discover an unexpected caretaker is already there. When his secret gets out, Charlie loses all control and the hunt begins!This 35MM print has been made available through the generosity of the G. William Jones Film and Video Collection at the SMU Libraries. VAULT ACCESS is a series devoted to exhibition of the acetate gems in this collection.
