SUMMARY:Hulvey
DESCRIPTION:Knowing God plays a central role as both a catalyst and medium in Hulvey’s personal and creative growth. The Brunswick\, GA native’s music delves into themes of thankfulness\, maturity and comfort that reflect the peace of mind he currently inhabits. In the five years since signing with Reach Records\, Hulvey has released his debut\, self-titled album\, Christopher\, to widespread acclaim and toured nationally – welcoming a season of newfound success filled with transformative moments. His reverence for God is inextricably linked to his upbringing in Southeast Georgia\, where Hulvey was steeped in an all-encompassing church life. After being saved at age 4\, his spiritual journey started to take form. From then on out\, Hulvey made a conscious effort to seek God in all of his experiences and direct every fiber of his being to developing a deeper understanding of his Creator. In doing so\, he naturally surrounded himself with people who have similar values\, which led to a fortuitous run-in with a gentleman by the name of Doug. This alignment marked a pivotal turning point in Hulvey’s life when a bible verse resonated with him unlike any other\, John 17:3 – “This is eternal life\, that they may know you\, the only true God\, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” Hulvey went on to attend college before deciding to drop out and pursue a career in music full-time. And so far it has worked out for him. To date\, he’s released a plethora of compelling singles\, five EP’s and his aforementioned debut album\, which made waves across the music industry and debuted at #8 on Billboard’s Top Christian/Gospel Albums chart\, and #19 on the Top Rap Albums chart. 2023 was no different\, evidenced by the runaway success of his immensely popular singles such as “Used By You\,” “Love Like That\,” “Fly Away\,” and “Altar.” The latter was remixed by Grammy Award-winning R&B-pop star Ciara\, and the original version peaked at #25 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs\, with seven total weeks on the chart. Adding to the excitement\, Hulvey was awarded an RIAA Gold certification for “Altar\,” which has garnered 100M+ streams since its release. He continued fortifying his catalog in 2025 with songs like “BRING HEAVEN DOWN\,” “RAIN ON ME\,” “JESUS IS LORD\,” and his critically-acclaimed third studio album\, CRY. Then\, Hulvey parlayed that momentum into a standout guest verse on Brandon Lake’s King Of Hearts LP (“Right In The Middle”) before joining him on the Summer Worship Nights Tour alongside Phil Wickham. Hulvey’s impressive versatility and ability to draw connections across the ever-growing musical landscape is a testament to the reach of faith-based rap. With more music and major moves on the horizon\, he’s squarely positioned to bring people closer to God with his now-signature blend of nuance\, effort\, intentionality.

SUMMARY:An Evening with Fink
DESCRIPTION:Fink \nThe City Is Coming to Erase It All is Fink’s ninth studio album\, following 2024’s Beauty In Your Wake. Recorded in Zennor\, Cornwall\, the album was made with a strict era-specific approach. Imagining a record Michael Chapman might have made\, right down to the guitar strings. Grammy-winning producer Sam Okell helped guide the process: “If it didn’t exist in 1974\, you’re not allowed to use it.” \nBut this is nowstalgia\, not nostalgia. “I want something new\, but with the same ethos\,” singer Fin Greenall explains. There’s a parallel between the restless 18-year-olds Fink once were and the autumn-aged family men they are now. Touring remains a compulsion as much as a joy\, despite having played every major European city countless times. “The need to play your new material is so overwhelming that it trumps all the comforts and trinkets.” \nCity is a product of this hunger for discovery\, and idolatry of the album as a form – like we had in 1974. City’s cover mirrors its interior\, the first song is the greeting\, the instrumental closer the conclusion. It’s a story. It’s a record for people who\, like its creators\, are curious. People who happily face a little cold for music\, who light a crackling fire back home\, who sit with these songs until they’re ready to chase after their own blue sky.

SUMMARY:Social Distortion
DESCRIPTION:Since emerging from the streets of Fullerton CA in the late ‘70s\, Social Distortion have become the unquestioned standard bearers for punk bands. Beginning with their classic 1983 debut album Mommy’s Little Monster and stretching through 2011’s Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes\, the band\, led by Mike Ness\, continues to reinvent itself while remaining true to its punk rock roots. \nA lifelong devotee and student of rock’n’roll dating back to a childhood spent obsessively listening to the likes of The Rolling Stones\, T.Rex\, David Bowie\, Creedence Clearwater Revival\, and eventually the Sex Pistols and Ramones\, Ness always maintained that Social Distortion would be more than just a punk band. That theme is evident in the band’s first seven records\, with tales of outlaws\, outcasts\, love lost\, and a hard life lived. It’s with this earnestness and viewpoint that Ness is lionized as a truth-telling songwriter to fans all around the world. \nNow\, 15 years after the release of Hard Times… and a couple of years after Ness faced a life-threatening illness\, comes Born To Kill. The album\, a few years in the works\, sees Ness take a long look inside and reflect on a well-worn journey where nothing was given and everything earned. Despite the notable timespan between albums\, Ness has never stopped writing. Recorded at Sunset Sound then finished at Hillside Manor Studio with Ness co-producing with producer Dave Sardy\, Social Distortion plowed through 11 bone-rattling songs (which include guest appearances from Lucinda Williams and Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench)\, and a couple of unreleased songs going back 30 years. \n“I have to dispel the myth that it took us 15 years to write an album\,” Ness says. “I kept writing after Hard Times…\, so when it was time to pick the songs for this record\, we had over 40 songs to choose from. “ \nNess aimed to capture the spirit of his formative years\, describing Born To Kill as an “homage to the beginning of my career\, going out every night and watching bands\, listening to records over and over again\, and eventually starting my own band despite society’s volatile reaction to this new style of music and culture. Ninety-nine percent of the world was telling us we couldn’t do this. Well\, now we have something to prove!” \nThe album’s opening salvo blazes by in just under four minutes\, serving as title track and mission statement not just for this record\, but also succinctly summarizing the band’s 40+ year career. With fiery guitars accompanied by defiant lyrics\, combined with Social Distortion’s trademark melodic flair and Ness’s knack for creating thick grooves\, “Born To Kill” takes no prisoners. “I’m the underdog who ends up on top/ The rebel poet with the peacock strut/ Gonna make a change gonna rearrange/Look out man you’re in my pissing range!” Ness proclaims bombastically in a lyric that sums up his career. \nIn rapid fire succession and with the trademark raw intensity that has defined Social Distortion for nearly 50 years\, Born To Kill peels back the curtain on Ness’s experiences. “No Way Out” sees Ness examine the confluence of events that have defined his life\, while the nostalgic “The Way Things Were” sees him reminisce about a hell-raising youth in Fullerton. Meanwhile\, the rollicking\, swinging rocker “Tonight” has all the qualities of a Social Distortion classic. Developed from an idea from the Hard Times… sessions\, Ness confronts the realities of losing the most important relationship of his life but not succumbing to despair\, choosing to fight for love and rebuild instead. “Partners In Crime \,“ a Ness favorite\, layers heartfelt lyrics atop a three-chord crunch and primitive mid-tempo groove\, resulting in what he describes as a “punk anthem.” And “Over You” sounds like the best Heartbreakers song Johnny Thunders never wrote. \nOver the years\, Social Distortion has carefully chosen cool cover songs\, transforming them into Social D classics\, most notably their version of “Ring of Fire” from the band’s self-titled breakthrough third album. They continue this tradition with Ness’s take on Chris Isaak’s 1989 brooding hit “Wicked Game\,” on which they achieve their goal of creating an interpretation of the song like no other. \nAll these years later\, Social Distortion is more than a gang of punk rock survivors: it remains one of the world’s most respected and revered and still relevant rock ‘n’ roll bands far beyond its Southern California home. Sharing the stage with the likes of Bruce Springsteen\, Pearl Jam and Neil Young has found the band attracting a more diverse range of ages and lifestyles. Yet unlike many other bands that have stuck it out as long as they have\, Social Distortion not only survives but thrives. Through mostly word of mouth\, with their devoted fan base preaching the band’s gospel\, the music has been passed down three generations now. Parents bringing their kids to shows\, sometime kids bringing parents and grandparents to shows. This has become commonplace\, speaking to what Ness calls a universal message echoed in his songs. \n“I write about feelings\, struggles\, and hardship. I also write about love and joy. I try and keep it human. We were a part of the soundtrack to their life. We were one of the bands they grew up with\, and they felt they needed to pass it on to their kids\, which is a gift and an honor to us.”

SUMMARY:Kamelot
DESCRIPTION:One of the most innovative and prestigious bands in modern symphonic metal\, heavy icons KAMELOT present their most introspective\, uplifting\, vital release to date – their first full-length in five years\, 2023’s aptly titled The Awakening. \n  \n“The Power of One” – what does this mean to modern symphonic/gothic metal masters KAMELOT? Above all else\, it means sticking to a singular vision from beginning to end\, which is exactly what’s allowed the multinational quintet to become the leading force in their field for roughly 25 years. \n  \nOn their 13th studio album\, The Awakening\, the band expressly invites listeners to discover “the power of one” within themselves as well. Exuding the impassioned songwriting\, complex musicianship\, and sophisticated production that’s always made KAMELOT a remarkable act\, the LP offers a more diverse\, uplifting\, and introspective journey compared to bleaker predecessor The Shadow Theory. As such\, The Awakening encourages its audience to\, well\, awaken not only to the grandeur of its genre(s)\, but to the greatness of life itself. \n  \nFormed by guitarist Thomas Youngblood in 1991\, KAMELOT also includes bassist Sean Tibbetts\, keyboardist Oliver Palotai\, and vocalist Tommy Karevik. In addition\, The Awakening is their first original recording with drummer Alex Landenburg\, whom Youngblood praises as “extremely creative\, cool\, and positive\,” adding: “The drums on this record are amazing\, and he definitely brings invigorating energy and chemistry to what we do.” \n  \nGiven their extensive history and renowned artistry—spread across two dozen studio LPs and two live records—it’s only right that the group has amassed so many fans and accolades over the last quarter-century. \n  \nHaving reigned supreme with the release of internationally top-charting melodic metal pinnacles such as The Fourth Legacy (1999)\, The Black Halo (2005)\, Silverthorn (2012)\, Haven (2015\, #1 US Hard Rock Albums)\, and most recently 2018’s acclaimed The Shadow Theory (#2 US Hard Music Albums)\, The Awakening enters the KAMELOT legacy as their most massive and diverse offering yet – mixing symphonic\, gothic\, melodic\, progressive and power metal styles while yielding some of the heaviest tracks in the band’s history. \n  \nUnderstandably\, The Awakening arrives with vast expectations\, yet as always\, KAMELOT unquestionably exceeded them. In fact\, even the title represents the band’s commitment to (and message of) seizing every opportunity and appreciating every moment in a post-pandemic world. “Initially\, it was about awakening our senses to what was really important because we all kind of got forced to stay home more and be more social with our family and friends. It’s about awakening from our slumber and welcoming the new world\,” Youngblood ponders. \n  \nThe Awakening tackles a wide-array of resonant and pertinent topics that virtually all listeners can relate to. From explorations of societal division (“New Babylon”) and parent-child relationships (“NightSky”) to declarations of unrelenting strength (“My Pantheon (Forevermore)\,” “The Looking Glass\,” “The Great Divide”) and hopeful outlooks (“Midsummer’s Eve\,” “Willow”)\, every track on The Awakening is as deeply contemplative as it is hugely entertaining. \n  \nThat blend of freshness and familiarity also extends to the music\, with The Awakening cleverly evoking some earlier styles amidst incorporating innovative approaches. \n  \nYoungblood aptly explains: “There’s some stuff that harkens back to what made The Fourth Legacy and The Black Halo so special. At the same time\, we figured why not have some fun and write some modern metal material as well. Honestly\, the record is packed with everything that KAMELOT fans like.” \n  \nHelping bring the band’s vision to life are longtime partner Sascha Paeth—who’s produced every studio LP since The Fourth Legacy—and returning The Shadow Theory collaborator Jacob Hansen (Volbeat) on mastering and mixing duties. \n  \nThe quintet aren’t the only ones playing on the record\, either\, as they’re once again joined by a few superb guests. In particular\, multifaceted Ad Infinitum singer Melissa Bonny elevates “New Babylon\,” just as violinist Florian Janoske and Grammy-nominated cellist Tina Guo beautify “Midsummer’s Eve.” There’s also added vocal layers from JUNO Award-winning producer Brian Howes on “One More Flag in the Ground\,” not to mention “a whole variety of people in the choir parts\, too\,” Youngblood specifies. \n  \n“We met Melissa years ago\, at first at some KAMELOT shows\, and later I saw her doing a KAMELOT cover on YouTube\,” Youngblood reveals. “She absolutely crushes her parts here\, as does everyone else. We always look for new talent to feature and/or ways to cross collaborations off of the bucket list\, and I’m so happy we were able to do that with The Awakening.” \n  \nWhile the COVID-19 pandemic certainly made it difficult for other groups to produce new work\, that wasn’t really the case for KAMELOT\, because they’re used to writing\, recording\, and refining in separate places. \n  \n“It was definitely way more remote than in the past\, but we’re spread out all over the world anyway\, so it’s not like we can drive down the road to hang out. This time\, we recorded in five different studios\, including ones in Florida\, Germany\, and Canada. Plus\, a lot of the initial songwriting was done at the start of 2020\, before COVID\, and there’s new software now that allowed us to go over the mix with Jacob in real time. I do miss the old ways of getting at least partially together\, though\, but I’m sure we’ll get back to that with the next album\,” Youngblood reflects. \n  \nThe Awakening could be described as a complex process\, but followers both old and new will undoubtedly find it to be the band’s finest outing to date. For instance—and in keeping with tradition—it’s bookended by two gorgeously affective instrumentals (“Overture” and “Ephemera\,” respectively) that embody KAMELOT’s beloved knack for theatrical continuity. \n  \nYoungblood expounds: “We try to frame records like stories or movies\, with an opening soundtrack and closing credits. We still write records for fans who want to listen to a full piece of music from beginning to end\, but people who don’t want that will still get a whole bunch of great individual songs to hear.” \n  \nTo his point\, the LP houses KAMELOT’s most varied\, daring\, and satisfying array of material in-between\, too. \n  \nFor example\, there’s the Middle Eastern-tinged self-empowerment of radio-friendly lead single “One More Flag in the Ground\,” as well as the modernized edge of “NightSky\,” the idyllic nostalgia of “Willow\,” the prog metal splendor of “The Looking Glass\,” and the symphonic pensiveness of “Midsummer’s Eve.” At the same time\, pieces such as the darkly thunderous “Eventide\,” the feistily cinematic “The Great Divide\,” the malevolently orchestral “New Babylon\,” and the robustly dynamic “My Pantheon (Forevermore)” conjure classic KAMELOT\, plain and simple. \n  \nOn that note\, there’s even a continuation of an earlier KAMELOT gem via the touchingly dramatic “Opus of the Night (Ghost Requiem).” \n  \n“The title track of 2007’s Ghost Opera was about a girl whose dream was to sing in front of the opera\, but on the way to her debut\, she’s assaulted. So\, she never makes it there. Now\, we’re seeing her granddaughter fulfill that dream and find resolution and catharsis\,” Youngblood describes. \n  \n“The music of KAMELOT has always carried the message of hope\, light and a feeling of resolution. This story is a prime example of that. ‘Opus of the Night (Ghost Requiem)’ honors the traditional dark and melodic sound of the band while bringing some new and exciting elements to the table\,” adds vocalist Tommy Karevik. \n  \nNaturally\, such compelling compositions require equally fascinating visuals\, which is where Greek artist Giannis Nakos comes in. “It’s our first time working with him\,” says Youngblood\, “and he did a fantastic job. The artwork and the booklet and the Earbook are incredible.” Indeed\, Nakos’ designs perfectly complement the music they represent. \n  \nFittingly\, The Awakening will also see KAMELOT embark on the biggest tour in their history\, starting with a European run in the spring of 2023 and then carrying over to North America the fall. “We’re coming off of our biggest concert and DVD shoot to date [2020’s I Am the Empire – Live from the 013]\, but we’re certainly not resting on our laurels. We want to get out there and showcase The Awakening for as many people as possible\,” Youngblood rejoices. \n  \nAs they should. From beginning to end\, The Awakening finds KAMELOT at their most poised\, imaginative\, and empathetic\, matching heartfelt storytelling and personal convictions with characteristically adventurous yet gratifying instrumentation. In that way\, it’s an essential reflection on where they—and us—have been\, as well as a hopeful plea for where we all should be headed.

SUMMARY:Black Label Society
DESCRIPTION:BLACK LABEL SOCIETY Zakk Wylde – Vocals/Guitar John DeServio – Bass Dario Lorina – Guitar Jeff Fabb – Drums \nBlack Label Society bandleader Zakk Wylde wields his guitar like a Viking weapon\, bashing out thick riffage and squeezing out expressive squeals as if the glory of his Berserker brotherhood depends upon every single note\, which of course\, it does. Charismatic beast and consummate showman\, Wylde puts his massive heart and earnest soul on display with unbridled\, unchained\, animalistic passion in Black Label Society\, whether it’s a crushingly heavy blues-rock barnstormer or a piano-driven ode to a fallen brother. Each Black Label Society album is another opportunity to top the one before it\, but like AC/DC or The Rolling Stones\, BLS isn’t here to reinvent the wheel. If it ain’t broke\, don’t fix it. It’s a brand we ca While members of esteemed rock and metal institutions like Alice In Chains\, Metallica\, Type O Negative\, Clutch\, Danzig\, and Megadeth have passed through the band’s ranks\, Black Label Society has consistently been defined by Wylde’s unmistakable voice and signature guitar sound and the steady rumble of bassist John DeServio. BLS is rounded out\, in the studio and onstage\, by guitarist Dario Lorina (since 2013) and powerhouse drummer Jeff Fabb (since 2012). This is as much a band as it is a symbol of strength\, honor\, commitment\, and diehard “society\,” as evidenced by the legions of supporters who proudly donned the Black Label Society colors years before motorcycle culture was back in fashion. Black Label Society are vigilant keepers of the hard rock n’ roll flame\, protecting its sonic characteristics and vibe while engaging in reverent study of its chief architects. Given that Wylde’s kids’ are named Hayley Rae\, Jesse John Michael (named after his Godfather\, John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne)\, Hendrix Halen\, and Sabbath Page\, it’s clear that he takes his study of rock n’ roll’s greats very seriously. To many\, Wylde is synonymous with pinch harmonics as much as Chuck Berry dreamt up the duck walk. Zakk’s signature Les Paul Bullseye guitar hangs in the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. His infamous leather bellbottoms hang in the Grammy Museum. His handprints are on Hollywood’s Rock Walk of Fame. He’s performed the National Anthem at major sporting events. He wrote the 2013 Major League Baseball theme for ESPN. He even momentarily joined Axl Rose\, Slash\, and Duff in Guns N’ Roses. He is a playable character in the Guitar Hero games. A lifelong disciple of Black Sabbath and the longest serving guitar-shredder for the Ozzman himself\, Wylde co-wrote modern Ozzy Osbourne classics like “No More Tears\,” “Mama I’m Coming Home\,” “Road to Nowhere\,” and “Miracle Man.” Together with Ozzy bassist Blasko and drummer Joey Castillo (ex-Queens Of The Stone Age)\, Wylde pays faithful tribute to the forefathers of metal as frontman for Zakk Sabbath. Before he graced the cover of every meaningful guitar magazine on the planet\, Zakk Wylde was a kid in New Jersey who picked up his instrument before he’d even hit high school. He was still a teenager when he got his demo tape into Ozzy’s hands. Together with the man he affectionately calls “the Boss” (and whose wife and manager\, Sharon\, he calls “Mom”)\, Wylde was part of the biggest selling album of the legendary Black Sabbath singer’s solo career\, No More Tears\, as well as the double-platinum Ozzmosis\, and earned a Grammy for the live recording of “I Don’t Want to Change the World.” One part invading horde and all parts traveling carnival party\, Black Label Society traverses the world powered by caffeine and cacophony. BLS engages and inspires audiences everywhere they go\, on every radio dial they burn\, inviting all comers to join in and participate in their brotherhood and sisterhood of hard rock and vigor. Now ten studio albums deep\, with solo records\, Ozzy shows\, and Zakk Sabbath tours all kicking ass simultaneously\, Black Label Society rides ever forward\, fist held high.
