DESCRIPTION:William Michael Griffin Jr. (born January 28\, 1968)\, better known by his stage name Rakim (/rɑːˈkɪm/)\, is an American rapper. He is one half of golden age hip-hop duo Eric B. & Rakim\, with whom he released four albums: Paid in Full (1987)\, Follow the Leader(1988)\, Let the Rhythm Hit ‘Em (1990)\, and Don’t Sweat the Technique (1992). He also released four solo albums: The 18th Letter (1997)\, The Master (1999)\, The Seventh Seal (2009)\, and G.O.D.’s Network: Reb7rth (2024). \nRakim is considered a transformative figure in hip hop.[1] He helped to pioneer the use of internal rhymes and multisyllabic rhymes\, and was among the first to demonstrate the possibilities of sitting down to write intricately crafted lyrics packed with clever word choices and metaphors rather than the more improvisational styles and simpler rhyme patterns that predominated before him.[1] Rakim is also credited with creating the overall shift from the more simplistic old school flows to more complex flows.[2] Rapper Kool Moe Dee explained: “Rakim is basically the inventor of flow. We were not even using the word flow until Rakim came along. It was called rhyming\, it was called cadence\, but it wasn’t called flow. Rakim created flow!”[3] \nPaid in Full was named the greatest hip hop album of all time by MTV in 2006\,[4] while Rakim himself was ranked No. 4 on MTV’s list of the Greatest MCs of All Time.[5] Steve Huey of AllMusic stated that “Rakim is near-universally acknowledged as one of the greatest MCs – perhaps the greatest – of all time within the hip-hop community”.[6] The editors of About.com ranked him No. 2 on their list of the ‘Top 50 MCs of Our Time (1987–2007)’.[7] In 2012\, The Source ranked him No. 1 on their list of the “Top 50 Lyricists of All Time”.[8]

DESCRIPTION:Stemming from a D.I.Y. noise scene based around the downtown L.A. art space The Smell\, Health make mathy indie rock with tribal drums\, squealing guitars\, asymmetrical basslines\, and a home-made guitar pedal/microphone called a Zoothorn. As a four-piece led by Jacob Duzsik\, the band played its first show after practicing together for six months\, and started making a go in Los Angeles\, playing ten-minute sets with like-minded local bands like Ex Models\, No Age\, and Mika Miko. After a few tours and a slot at SXSW\, they returned to home base and started recording their debut album at The Smell. Capturing the cavernous brick acoustics with vintage microphones\, Health featured a unique brand of aggressive and concise songs\, and was released by Lovepump Records in 2007. Later\, they started touring with pals Crystal Castles\, an aggressive electro duo that had previously shared a 7″ with the band. Health also remixed their song Crimewave that year. To repay the favor\, Crystal Castles contributed to a full album of Health remixes\, titled //DISCO. In 2009\, the group unleashed their muscular and crunchy second full-length\, Get Color. Following tradition\, the songs from this album were remixed for ::DISCO2.

DESCRIPTION:John Butler has had enough. After nearly two decades of hard touring\, the singer had disbanded his long-running John Butler Trio\, the band that helped make him not only one of Australia’s musical icons but also one of its biggest exports ever.  \nDespite a contentious lifelong relationship shaped in part by violence and abuse\, his dying father had moved into his bedroom\, Butler sleeping on the couch as he tried his hand at palliative care. His wife\, Danielle\, was across the country\, tending to her ailing father\, too. Having endured the tension of decades on the road and the strong wills of two energetic creative halves\, their relationship was now faltering. And finally\, the home studio that Butler had at last upgraded so he could make music alone—without the interference and anxiety of involving anyone else—broke\, his recording rig stalling so that he could no longer work at all. His solace became his stressor\, and he thought the time had come\, just maybe\, to quit. \nBut then he asked for help. Butler rendezvoused with James Ireland\, a member of Pond and a crucial part of a younger Australian cadre surging to international attention. They cut “King of California\,” a radiant celebration song of sorts for Butler’s perseverant journey with Danielle\, and Butler realized anew the magic that making music when it felt good could hold. Rather than dip\, he theorized the most ambitious artistic plan of his 30-year career: a four-album cycle that allowed him to restart in a place of pure tone and culminate\, three records and several years later\, with another band of his own. He would call it all Four Seasons. The third volume\, PRISM\, may be the most candid\, poignant and powerful record of his life\, proof that to get back to something we believe in we sometimes have to start\, once again\, from next to nothing. \nPRISM is the urgent work of someone with a lot to say\, with emotional terrain to explore and the understanding that music is still maybe the best way he’s ever found to do so. These dozen songs fall loosely into three compelling categories. First\, Butler doubles down on his activism for nearly half the record\, criticizing mega-corporations upending the earth and celebrating the natural wonder that remains. Where “Wings to Fly” is a spoken-sung tirade over undulating synths that recall the later works of fellow Australian Nick Cave\, “Outta My Head” is a spring-loaded rock song about fending off the craziness of our post-truth oblivion. These songs are righteous reflections of our time and warnings about what we stand to lose.  \nButler turned 50 not long after PRISM was finished.  He sees that as nothing but a blessing. It is not so much an ending as the close of a new beginning for Butler. He is now fully aware that he has not yet had enough\, because this is just a start. \n

SUMMARY:HAUNT ME
DESCRIPTION:Haunt Me is the brainchild of vocalist and multi instrumentalist Darius Davila who started the band back in February of 2021. After releasing Haunt Me’s debut EP and full length album that same year\, Darius recruited his friend Hilario Bautista who he had worked with before for years being in multiple previous bands together. Since then\, the duo have been writing and composing music together releasing several critically acclaimed EPs with their sophomore album ‘Watch You Bleed’ releasing on Valentine’s Day 2025 to critical and commercial acclaim. The band currently performs as a three piece group based out of San Antonio\, Texas with Nicholas Devora taking on bass and synth bass duties. The band’s sound can best be described as a fusion of Post-Punk\, Darkwave and Indie Rock. Drawing inspiration from both modern and classic artists such as Interpol\, The Smiths\, The Cure\, The Strokes\, Hers\, Joy Division\, Arctic Monkeys\, Depeche Mode and New Order.
